Savory Rotti for Breakfast

Β  Β  Savory rotties are made more often for our weekend breakfasts. This is my grandma’s famous recipe in our family which is my favorite and now popular in between my family and friends. The best thing about this recipe is, it’s easy, tasty and for us we don’t need any side dish along with this rotti. We like to enjoy the flavor and aroma of shallots, cumin and coconut. It might be good with some chuttney, am not pretty sure about the sides for this as we never had anything along with this, that’s how we like it. Let’s go through the recipe.

Ingredients:-
Rice flour-2cpsShallots-6-8 small chopped
Green chillies-4 chopped
Curry leaves-1 sprig chopped
Fresh grated coconut-1cp
Cumin seeds-1tbsp
Salt
Coconut oil- to shallow fry
Hot water- to make into dough

Method:-
In a mixing bowl, mix all the ingredients except oil & water.
Pour in hot water little by little & make into soft dough (the dough should be moisty soft & at the same time easy to handle, the fried rice flour will absorb the water little & again dries rotti while cooking. That makes the rotti soft and crunchy outside.)
Slightly coat the dough with oil.
Keep it aside for 10 mins.
Mold it like cutlet.
Shallow fry the rotties in low to medium flame till nice golden brown patches visible.
In between drop little coconut oil to the sides of rotti while cooking.

Rotti is ready to go with a cup of tea or coffee.
