Cookie making is a fun time with kids, make your holidays more enjoyable including yours kids in some preparations. Ayden was enjoying a lot making cookie with mama. He helped me, messed up the space & he was sooo excited to see the Candy Cane Cookies because he recently had an activity in his preschool, making candy cane with beads & unfortunately mama decided to make the same as cookies at home. This year Ayden will be giving these cookies & a cup of milk to Santa as his treat!
At last we made some mixed dough cookies, which we both enjoyed mashing the doughs together, really funny!!!
Egg yolks-4 (room temp)
Red food color
(Note:- Just half the ingredients for the small batch of cookies)
In a large mixing bowl, add butter, sugar, egg yolk, almond extract.
In another bowl take flour and salt & give a whisk.
Now start mixing the wet ingredients till smooth and creamy.
Add the dry ingredients in few batches.
Transfer the mixture to the floured counter top and bring into dough.
Divide the dough into 2 and add few drops of red food color to one portion of dough.
Plastic wrap them separately & refrigerate for about 30-45 mins.
Take small portion of dough from both colors and make into rope like.
Keep the red & white ropes side by side & press firmly together and twist on the dusted surface.
Bring Candy Cane shape and transfer to the lined baking tray.
Bake in 375 F for about 8 mins.
After baking leave them & let cool completely (no need to even transfer to the cooling racks, no harm to cookies).
